Winter 2025

Newsletter — Winter 2025

Dear fellow citizens,

I hope that you and your loved ones are in good health as we enter this new winter season. As the streets shine brighter than ever, I would like to extend my sincerest wishes for comfort, warmth, and serenity in the months ahead.

With the parliamentary session about to resume, I will return to my duties with a clear objective: to keep Bourassa moving forward with determination, with you always by my side.

It has been just under six months since you first placed your trust in me, and for this, I want to express my sincere gratitude. Your support has given deeper meaning to my work and guides every action I take in Ottawa.

A major piece of news has transformed our community: the Montréal-Nord Sports Centre, funded up to $39.8 million in the 2025 Budget, is finally becoming a reality.

It is far more than just a building; it is a place where our youth can dream, push their limits, and grow to their full potential without constraints. Bourassa deserves the best.

Our youth continue to demonstrate the strength and talent of our riding. From NBA champion Luguentz Dort to Bennedict Mathurin, Chris Boucher, and kickboxing champion Reda Shisseh, they proudly represent our community on the national and international stage.

This year, the robotics team from Calixa-Lavallée High School also earned gold at the FIRST Global Challenge, bringing distinction to Canada. Their achievements have inspired us all and filled our community with pride.

Our country is making significant investments in innovation, cybersecurity, and cutting-edge technologies. For the younger generation, these investments translate into future jobs and opportunities, as well as an economy that evolves alongside global change.

I want to reassure you that I will always remain at your service. Your hopes, ideas, and concerns are the compass that guides my daily work. Together, we are building a stronger, forward-looking, and proud Bourassa.

Luguentz Dort and Bennedict Mathurin: Local Pride

Summer 2025 will forever be remembered by our community as we welcomed back Luguentz Dort, NBA champion and Larry O’Brien Trophy winner, to our neighbourhood.

His journey to the pinnacle of professional sports is a powerful reminder of the talent, dedication, and perseverance nurtured within our community’s youth.

During the NBA Finals, Luguentz faced off against his friend Bennedict Mathurin, also from Montréal-Nord. Two young men excelling at the highest level in their field — a proud and motivating moment for all.

The robotics team Les Spartiates 3544 from Calixa-Lavallée High School represented Canada with distinction at the FIRST Global Challenge in Panama, earning the Dr. Mae Jemison Award for International Unity.

I had the honour of recognizing their achievement from the House of Commons podium, highlighting their remarkable journey and expressing my gratitude to their mentor, who voluntarily guided them with dedication and passion.

These young engineers are a tremendous source of inspiration for our community, proving that with focus and determination, there are no limits to what can be achieved.

Celebrating Our Youth

A Double Champion in Bourassa

Born in Bourassa, Reda Shisseh has risen to become a two-time kickboxing champion, a three-time Canadian karate champion, and a multiple-time Quebec champion in his discipline. He proudly carries the colours of his community onto the international stage.

Through his grit, skill, and unwavering commitment, Reda has shown young people that the sky is truly the limit. He stands as a shining example for Bourassa and its youth.
